MBA aspirants find Maharashtra state's CET paper tricky and lengthy

Scores of students who appeared for CET for MBA/MMS admissions this year, found the paper to be extremely difficult as compared to the previous years.

The online exam was attempted by 93% of the 74,305 registered for the exam conducted over the weekend in three slots. The CET was conducted across 166 centres in Maharashtra for admissions to institutes such as Sydenham, Somaiya, Welingkar's, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, etc.

V.Shah from an institution in Vile Parle said that the logic and quant section was too tricky. "In fact, in a few questions the difficulty level was equivalent to that of the ones asked in CAT.

We never expected the CET paper to be so difficult," said Shah. Another student said that none of the practice papers from previous years that he practiced and attempted matched the difficulty level of the paper this year, except for verbal and visual reasoning sections.

Hemang Panchmatia, from a coaching institute, said that a huge no. of students complained that they were unable to complete their paper on time. "The cut-offs for most sought-after institutes such as JBIMS may drop to 140-145 this year. which is usually above 160. But since most students found it difficult, the percentile marking also will be relative," he said. This year, 25% more students had appeared for the MBA/MMS CET as compared to last year.
